Quizizz is now called Wayground, and it has grown into a big platform for schools. If you just want to write a quiz, share a code and get fair marks back, Quizoma is a free Quizizz alternative that does only that: every feature free, no ads, nothing to unlock.
Wayground (formerly Quizizz) is a large platform: live competitive games, assigned homework, lessons, a big library of ready-made activities, AI tools and school-wide assessment. It has a free Basic plan for teachers, with more on paid and school plans.
Quizoma is a simple quiz and test maker: you write the questions, students join with a code and work at their own pace, and typed answers with a small slip can still count. Every feature is free, with no ads.

Where Wayground is the better choice
One platform for a whole school
Lessons, a large library, AI tools, accommodations such as read-aloud, and assessment shared across classrooms. Quizoma is one teacher's quiz tool, not a school system.
A live game in class
Everyone playing at once in a competitive game is what Quizizz was known for, and Wayground still does it. Quizoma has no live game.
Where Quizoma fits better
Typed answers, marked fairly

Every feature is free today, with no ads and no in-app purchases. By default an account holds 10 quizzes of up to 20 questions each.
A calm, simple builder
A quiz is a list of questions and a few switches: Test, Practice or Speed drill, timers, retakes. Each setting has an ⓘ that says what it does.
Works offline on Android
The Android app keeps a quiz running when the school Wi-Fi drops and sends the answers when the connection is back.

Honest limits
Quizoma has no live game mode, no AI question generation, no ready-made library beyond a few free templates, and no LMS integration. Everyone signs in with a Google account. The browser version, Quizoma Studio, is in beta, and the Android app is free on Google Play from 1 November 2026.
